Bolivia (The World’s Unfriendliest Country)

April 6, 2013 by Kevin White

I recently saw an article by CNN about the most friendly and unfriendly countries in the world when it comes to tourism. I was surprised to see that Bolivia ranked number one as the least friendly country to visit as a tourist. The results were determined by policies made concerning tourism and infrastructure among other things. This really surprised me because after living in Bolivia for 7 years I can say that the Bolivian people have been very receptive and are in general very nice and polite. I think that most of the idea shown in the CNN article comes from our governments stance and policies. For example starting in Dec of 2007 all american citizens must have a Visa to visit Bolivia which is not difficult to obtain but cost $135. Also following suite with the former president of Venezuela our government likes to make statements against the US and other countries. This might explain why Venezuela is number two on the worst countries to visit. To me it is truly sad that this type image is given to Bolivia because I can testify to how wonderful of a place it is. So if you too have seen this article, don’t believe it. 🙂 We would love to have you come down for the Bolivia Mission’s Trip,  and visit us and see for yourself.
