On the Road Again:
I hate to use the old saying but I think that is the best way to describe it. Since we have been home now we have already spent quite a bit of time on the road. The week after we arrived we traveled up to Wisconsin for two meetings. It took us almost 18 hours to get there so we divided the trip into two parts leaving just a few hours on the second day to arrive. That might not seem like a lot for some, especially missionaries, but not having traveled for some time, and right after traveling back from South America it seemed like a trip to the moon and back. Although it took some effort to get there, we had a great time with pastors Bob Stevens and his son-in-law Weing Liew who pastor in two cities about an hour apart. We had a wonderful time and the Lord blessed with two great meetings.
Then a week later we had the privilege to participate in the Our Generation Leadership Camp. It was a time of passionate preaching and eye opening visits to religious centers like one of the largest Hindu temples and a Muslim Mosque. I always try to keep in mind my responsibility to invest in the lives of others and encourage them to get involved in world missions. If you or someone you know would be interested in hearing about how they could, and should be involved in missions please let us know or go to www.bcwe.org to find our more information about the Our Generation Summit coming up this December in Gatlinburg TN or next years Leadership Camp the last week of May 2011.
Although we have a little less strenuous schedule for the summer months please pray for continued safety as the fall and winter months approach where we will be traveling non-stop.
The Ministry Continues On:
It has only been about two months since we left Bolivia and obviously during this time we have been praying for and concerned for the ministry there. We thank the Lord that through the wonder of technology we have been able to maintain contact with the leaders and some of the people of the church. We have had several meetings using a program called skype and webcams. It was almost as if we were talking in person just like before. Since we left they have had several different, new activities that the Lord has blessed greatly. They had a children’s campaign similar to our vacation bible school. On the final Sunday they had more than 40 children in children church. For some time we have been having ladies meetings but since the guys didn’t want to be left behind they started a meeting for them. The guys have really enjoyed the time of fellowship and learning. Also several of the guys have been teaching and discipling. They have had tons of visitors and several that have made decisions to accept the Lord. Just a few weeks ago they had a high attendance of 129 on a normal Sunday morning. Please continue to pray for pastor Christian and the leaders there.
There Growing Up:
It is amazing to see how quickly time passes and how fast my little ones are growing up. Just a few months ago Titus turned one and every day it seems as if he gets bigger, faster, and has more energy. Then in the month of June both Taylor and Grace had birthdays. Taylor turned 5 on the 1st and then Grace turned 7 on the 17th. They are truly turning into young ladies. It has been somewhat of a challenge for them to adjust back to American culture and of course language. At first they used more Spanish mixed with English, but now they use mostly English. Also it is always inevitable that people ask them to say things in Spanish which for them is very embarrassing. The one thing they have taken to very quickly is the food. Especially McDonalds.
Prayer Requests:
- Pray that the Lord will keep his hand upon the church and leaders during this time.
- Pray for us as we spend many hours and miles on the road.
- Pray that the Lord will provide the needed funds to purchase land in Bolivia.
- Pray for the government of Bolivia that the Lord will work in their hearts and lives.
