October Prayer Letter

October 13, 2010 by Kevin White

Four years and Counting

The first week of September the Iglesia Bautista Visión turned four years old. It was at this time four years ago that we started meeting in a rented building, just my family and the couple we were working with. We would sing together then one of us would preach. Needless to say the altar wasn’t full during the invitation. It is hard to believe four years later what the Lord has done. Those first days were a little tough when we would sometimes only have a couple of people show up for the service. At the beginning we used English classes and the Lord blessed us with as many as 45 on Sunday mornings. Well, little by little the Lord has added to the church and as we began to see people saved and growing in the Lord the ministry has moved forward. We have had many victories and some seeming defeats, but overall the Lord has blessed us time and again. It was kind of sad not to be able to be there for their fourth anniversary, but it is always encouraging to see the work continue on. Knowing that the anniversary was fast approaching the people of the church decided to do some major renovations to get the church ready for that day. One of the problems that we have had since moving into the location where we are has been the heat. The building has a metal roof and very little ventilation. They people pitched in together and put in a drop ceiling which is basically a hanging ceiling made out of thin plywood. They also repainted the walls and ceiling to have everything ready. Honestly, it turned out better than we imagined and has helped tremendously with the heat. They started on Friday with some special lady and men’s meetings and ended on Sunday with the anniversary service. We are thankful to Pastor Juan Pacheco with his wife that came over from Peru to preach in the conference and teach the ladies. Please pray that the Lord will continue to bless and that the next four years will be better than the first.

Traveling:

The Lord truly blessed us this past month with some great meetings with some great churches. We were in three different mission’s conferences and ten churches all together. A side from the normal Sunday and Wednesday meetings we had a marathon run starting on a Wednesday in North Carolina then Thursday night in a mission’s conference also in NC. From there we left for a mission’s conference in Alabama starting on Saturday thru Tuesday. Then we were able to visit a supporting church on that Wednesday and then start another mission’s conference on Thursday in Georgia that went thru Sunday. Wow, that’s a mouth full. Although it was a lot of traveling with the kids, we had a great time visiting the churches and getting to know many wonderful people. Grace and Taylor do pretty well on the trips but Titus still can only last for a couple of hours before he has to be released. We usually stop at a rest area and as soon as we put him down Titus runs in a circle without stopping until we get back in the car. That usually will do him for a few more hours or until we stop to eat. Pray that the Lord will continue to watch over us as we travel.

There are only a couple of months until the Our Generation Summit in Pigeon Forge TN. I hope that you won’t miss the opportunity to participate in this great conference. There will be missionaries from many parts of the world coming together for the cause of World Evangelism. There are classes during the day along with several services and some free time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. There is a great need around the world to take the gospel to those who have never heard. While not everyone will end up on the mission field we know that each of us should be involved in reaching the world. The Summit is the perfect place for you to find out where you fit in. For more information go to www.bcwe.org.

Prayer Requests:

  1. Pray Grace and Taylor because this is the first time we are teaching them at home.
  2. Pray that we can raise the needed support for our ministry in Bolivia.
  3. Pray that the Lord will provide the needed funds to purchase land in Bolivia.
  4. Pray for us and traveling mercies as we visit churches.
